Initiative to Ban Use of State Money for Denying "the Existence of a Supreme Ruler of the Universe"

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Washington State woman really digs the "supreme ruler of the universe" - and she wants the government to make sure that nobody is allowed to disagree with her

Kim Struiksma, 25, of Blaine WA and other members of her church have created Ballot Initiative Measure 1040, which "would prohibit state use of public money or lands for anything that denies or attempts to refute the existence of a supreme ruler of the universe, including textbooks, instruction or research."

The Initiative starts by declaring that its purpose "is to defend the liberty of the people of the state of Washington."  It aims to protect that liberty by exercising the brute power of cold, hard logic.

1. "According to the founding documents of our democratic society, our liberties are true and valid because they are endowed by a higher power."

2. "By contending that a higher power does not exist, our government removes the source of, invalidates, and consequently denies we the people of the United States our liberty."

3. "Thus, by denying the existence of a higher power our government defeats its purpose."

Q.E.D.

Who said religious zeal and reason cannot co-exist?  Read the entiere initiative here (look for "Assigned Number: 1040").
