Nebraska can be a lonely place for an atheist, which is one reason why Brett and Brock Castinado and presumably many others in a crowd of nearly 2,000 people were so juiced about hearing eminent evolution expert and anti-God crusader Richard Dawkins speak Wednesday night in downtown Omaha.

So juiced beforehand, and so satisfied afterward.

"It was just amazing," Brett Castinado, a 21-year-old University of Nebraska at Omaha student, said after Dawkins' lecture at the Holland Performing Arts Center. "This man is the epitome of everything that this new movement of reason and rationality stand for."

Dawkins was an evolutionary biologist before he became a celebrated defender of Darwin and attacker of religion. The British scientist wrote a renowned book on evolution, "The Selfish Gene," in the 1970s. But it is his 2006 book, "The God Delusion," that has him packing lecture halls.

Unlike scientists and religious leaders who see religion and the theory of evolution as compatible, Dawkins contends that evolution very nearly disproves the existence of God. ... Read the full article here.
